This Privacy Policy explains how DSR Calculator (“we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of dsrcalculator.com.my (the “Website”), collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal data when you use our Debt Service Ratio (“DSR”) calculator and request a report. We process personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 of Malaysia (“PDPA”).

By using the Website and submitting your details, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are (data user)

This Website is operated under the brand DSR Calculator (dsrcalculator.com.my). We are the data user responsible for the personal data collected through the Website. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@dsrcalculator.com.my.

2. Personal data we collect

When you use the calculator and request your report, we collect:

  • Contact details — the nickname you provide, your WhatsApp mobile number, and the Malaysian state/area you select.
  • Financial information you enter — your fixed monthly income, commission, other income, EPF contribution status, and your monthly commitments (car loan, personal loan, other loans, credit-card balances), and, where provided, the property price, interest rate and loan tenure you wish to model.
  • Calculation results — the DSR percentage, eligibility indicators and report generated from the information above.
  • Technical data — standard information your browser sends (e.g. IP address, device/browser type) and any cookies described in Section 8.

You are not legally obliged to provide this data. However, if you do not provide your contact details and financial inputs, we cannot generate or deliver your report.

3. How and why we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • calculate your estimated DSR and generate your report;
  • deliver your report and related follow-up to the WhatsApp number you provide;
  • contact you about your results; and
  • share your information with property and financing agents as described in Section 4.

The legal basis for this processing is your consent, which you give when you tick the consent box and submit the form.

4. How we share your information

We share your information only as described below:

  • Property and financing partners — to help you act on your results, we share the details you submit, including your contact details and the financial information you entered, with property and financing agents on our partner platform, dsrcheck.com.my. They may contact you (for example by WhatsApp or call) to discuss your results and offer property and financing options. They are independent third parties, responsible for their own use of your data and their own conduct.
  • Service providers — trusted providers that help us run the Website and deliver your report (for example messaging providers such as WhatsApp / Meta Platforms, and cloud hosting and infrastructure providers), handling your data only on our instructions. Some may store or process data outside Malaysia; by using the Website you consent to such transfer, protected to a standard consistent with the PDPA.
  • Legal authorities — where required by law or to protect our rights.

5. How long we keep your data

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes above and to comply with our legal obligations. You may ask us to delete your data (see Section 7), subject to any retention we are required by law to maintain. Note that once your data has been shared with an agent under Section 4, you may also need to contact that agent directly regarding data they hold.

6. How we protect your data

We apply reasonable security measures (including transport encryption / SSL) to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights under the PDPA

Subject to the PDPA, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate, incomplete or outdated data;
  • withdraw your consent to our processing at any time; and
  • limit or stop the processing of your data for direct marketing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@dsrcalculator.com.my. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request. Withdrawing consent will not affect processing already carried out, and may mean we can no longer provide the report service.

8. Cookies

The Website may use essential cookies needed for it to function. If and when we use analytics or advertising cookies, we will update this section and, where required, ask for your consent. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

9. Complaints

If you have questions or a complaint about how we handle your data, please contact us first at privacy@dsrcalculator.com.my. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Department (Jabatan Perlindungan Data Peribadi, JPDP), Malaysia.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the Website after changes are posted means you accept the updated Policy.
