- How much does renovation cost per square foot in Malaysia?
- At contractor-direct rates, roughly RM15–25 for a basic touch-up, RM40–65 for a mid-range job with new flooring and kitchen cabinets, RM70–120 for a full renovation, and RM120–200 for luxury finishes. Interior design firm packages are several times higher for the same scope.
- Why is there no option for terrace versus condo?
- Because we could not find a sourced figure for how much more a landed property costs per square foot, and inventing a multiplier would be worse than leaving it out. In practice landed homes usually cost more for the same scope because of exterior walls, roofing and gates, so treat the upper end of each range as more likely if you have those.
- Which rooms cost the most?
- Kitchens and bathrooms, by a wide margin — they carry the plumbing, waterproofing, tiling and built-in carpentry. On the indicative split here the kitchen alone is about 28% of the budget, and the two bathrooms together another 22%.
- What does this estimate leave out?
- Furniture, appliances, designer fees, and a contingency. Renovations routinely run over, so setting aside another 10–15% on top is the normal advice rather than pessimism.
